About Synevyr
Lake Synevyr is the most famous lake of Ukraine and the symbol of the Carpathians. It sits at 989 m altitude inside Synevyr National Park (Khust district). Up to 22–24 m deep, ~4–7 ha (depending on the water level). Fed by mountain streams, with no outflow — a classic endorheic Carpathian lake.
Hutsul legend: a girl named Syn wept for her lost love Vyr; her tears became the lake; two central fir islets are their souls. The lake's name combines their names.
